ORRVILLE, Ohio (AP) _ J.M. Smucker Co. (SJM) on Friday reported fiscal second-quarter profit of $211.2 million.

The Orrville, Ohio-based company said it had net income of $1.85 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $2.26 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.13 per share.

The food maker posted revenue of $1.96 billion in the period, which missed Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $1.99 billion.

Smucker expects full-year earnings in the range of $8.10 to $8.30 per share.

Smucker shares have increased 10% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has fallen slightly more than 3%. The stock has decreased nearly 8% in the last 12 months.
