ORRVILLE, Ohio (AP) _ J.M. Smucker Co. (SJM) on Tuesday reported fiscal second-quarter earnings of $230.8 million.
The Orrville, Ohio-based company said it had net income of $2.02 per share. Earnings, adjusted for one-time gains and costs, came to $2.39 per share.
The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.24 per share.
The food maker posted revenue of $2.03 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.01 billion.
Smucker expects full-year earnings in the range of $8.55 to $8.85 per share.
Smucker shares have climbed 11% since the beginning of the year, while the Standard & Poor's 500 index has risen 11%. The stock has increased 11% in the last 12 months.
