World renowned Christmas designer Jim Marvin, well
known for his fabulous decoration of the White House each
year, is opening his first 'pop-up' Christmas outlet
in Hong Kong this forthcoming Festive Season at the new
lifestyle destination 'Stanley Plaza' in
Stanley.
The trend-setting creator of themed Christmas decorations for
the past 30 years is showcasing his latest festive designs at a
temporary store from November 18 to December 31.
Hong Kong's first Jim Marvin Designer Christmas
Shop is opening daily from 10am-8pm at Shop 208, level 2,
Stanley Plaza.
Although the festive designer has previously decorated
a number of commercial and retail venues in Hong Kong, the
new 'pop-up' is his debut showcase to local
consumers.
Among his latest designs, traditional Christmas
combinations of red, green and gold are revamped with a
fashionable "shades of red" collection, and a
contemporary pink collection for the "bold and
daring".
A crystal white theme projects a "wintery" feel - and
is also good for wedding decorations, or dinner parties to
enhance crystal and china tableware.
An unlikely colour collection is an "Aqua" blue theme
dating back to the royal courts of Russia. Britain's recent
royal wedding also adopted a blue sapphire theme, making it a
popular event colour with a distinctly royal
touch!
For the young and trendy, a "limey" collection is
"hippy and the colour of nature", he said. His
'Hollywood Tinsel' collection evokes a "strong
expression of freedom, a sense of breaking away from
traditions. It's all shiny and aluminum - stylistic,
glamorous, contemporary and fun."
He also suggests a glittering, glamorous collection of
metallic, copper, silver and gold accessories to "inject
an exciting new touch".
"Christmas ornaments should not be viewed just as
decorative items," he advised. "They are symbolic as
shiny and pretty to make people happy, especially during the
Festive Season."
The re-launch of Stanley Plaza is "perfect timing and the
perfect location" for the retail debut, he added.
"Stanley is unique - away from the busy city centres yet
easily accessible, very "green", close to the sea,
scenic and relaxing. It's very open, you can really take
your time to enjoy the place."
Hilda Wong, Head of Marketing for The Link Management Limited
at Stanley Plaza, said, "The Jim Marvin Designer Christmas
shop is a timely complement to the re-launch of this new
lifestyle destination following extensive
renovation."
A new Era for Stanley Plaza
Stanley Plaza now begins a new era following a HK$200-million
redevelopment, with six-floors of semi-outdoor, high quality
retail outlets and restaurants. The "new look"
includes a stunning new 300-seat amphitheatre at a seafront
piazza, designed for entertainment and events.
Historic landmark Murray House, with its numerous restaurants,
al fresco dining and maritime museum, also forms part of the
seafront complex.
Stanley Plaza re-opens with a two-day 'World of
Food and Music Festival' from November 26-27 including
live master classes by famous international and local
celebrity food and wine personalities, wine tasting and an
extensive programme of performances by top musicians and
performers from the global World Music scene.
Other highlights include Sounds by The Sea, a pop music
showcase presenting some of Hong Kong's top homegrown music
bands (November 19-20) and Paws by the Sea (December 3-4), a
pet festival highlighting Stanley Plaza as the first
dog-friendly shopping centre under The Link.
