All,

We're excited to announce that Michael Crowley has joined our stellar State Department team. Michael came to The Times in 2019 as a White House correspondent covering President Trump's foreign policy, including nuclear talks with North Korea, Mr. Trump's dealings with President Vladimir Putin of Russia and Middle East peace initiatives. Michael also wrote insightful stories about Trump initiatives like the 1776 Commission. Michael has more than two decades of Washington journalism experience, most recently at Politico, where he was White House and national security editor and its senior foreign affairs correspondent. Early in his career Michael covered state, local and national politics for The Boston Phoenix and then The Boston Globe. Later he wrote about Washington and the world for The New Republic and Time magazine, where he was chief foreign affairs correspondent and wrote cover stories about President Obama's foreign policy.
