The Ramco Cements Limited reported unaudited standalone earnings results for the second quarter and half year ended of September 30, 2017. The company reported a net profit of INR 1,685.2 million compared to INR 2,070.1 million for the same period last year. Total revenue was INR 10,736.6 million compared to INR 11,741.5 million for the same period last year. Profit from ordinary activities before tax was INR 2,196.8 million compared to INR 2,637.1 million a year ago.

For the half year, the company reported total revenues of INR 22,676.7 million compared to INR 22,981.2 million a year ago. Profit from ordinary activities before tax was INR 4,279.1 million compared to INR 4,743.2 million a year ago. Net profit after tax was INR 3,243.3 million compared to INR 3,629.4 million a year ago. Basic and diluted earnings per share were INR 14 compared to INR 15 a year ago.

During the quarter, the company sold 2.152 million tonnes of cement compared to 2.025 million tonnes, including exports a year ago. The company announced that there has been a significant slowdown in the Tamil Nadu market due to drought and shortage of river sand for construction. But growth in the Eastern region has helped.
