MARYSVILLE, Ohio (AP) _ Scotts Miracle-Gro Co. (SMG) on Wednesday reported a loss of $220.1 million in its fiscal fourth quarter.

The Marysville, Ohio-based company said it had a loss of $3.97 per share. Losses, adjusted for restructuring costs, came to $2.04 per share.

The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of $2.02 per share.

The lawn and garden products company posted revenue of $493.6 million in the period, which also did not meet Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $527.4 million.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $437.5 million, or $7.88 per share. Revenue was reported as $3.92 billion.
