BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (AP) _ Toro Co. (TTC) on Thursday reported fiscal second-quarter net income of $142.2 million.

On a per-share basis, the Bloomington, Minnesota-based company said it had profit of $1.31. Earnings, adjusted for pretax gains and non-recurring gains, came to $1.29 per share.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $1.23 per share.

The landscaping, maintenance and irrigation equipment maker posted revenue of $1.15 billion in the period.

Toro shares have increased 16% since the beginning of the year. The stock has risen 58% in the last 12 months.
