After premiering its $200 million "Mulan" remake on Disney+ at a cost of about $30, Walt Disney Co. will make the film available to all subscribers.
Last month, Disney announced its plan to debut "Mulan" on its streaming platform for a premium price in the U.S. and many other key markets. Purchasing "Mulan" via Disney+ requires consumers subscribe to the company's service for $6.99 per month. But as of Dec. 4 all subscribers will be able to watch the film at no additional cost.
Disney Chief Executive Bob Chapek said during last month's announcement that research showed "Mulan" should foster subscriber growth for the service that is less than a year old.
Disney has made it clear Disney+ is an integral part of its long-term strategy. The decision to forgo a theatrical release in the U.S. came after most multiplexes had been closed for months amid the pandemic.
