TORONTO (AP) _ Westaim Corp. (WEDXF) on Thursday reported second-quarter net income of $10.9 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

On a per-share basis, the Toronto-based company said it had profit of 8 cents.

The investment company posted revenue of $574,000 in the period.

In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, the company's shares hit $1.92. A year ago, they were trading at $1.60.
