FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

THE YORK WATER COMPANY ACQUIRES LETTERKENNY TOWNSHIP, FRANKLIN COUNTY

WASTEWATER SYSTEM

York, Pennsylvania, September 28, 2020: JT Hand, President & CEO of The York Water Company (NASDAQ:YORW), announced that York Water settled on the acquisition of the Letterkenny Township Municipal Authority wastewater system on September 14, 2020, amidst the COVID-19 public health crisis.

For the second time in four months, York Water completed an acquisition remotely. President Hand acknowledged the superb collaboration between York Water and Letterkenny Township Municipal Authority officials during this settlement process.

"This is another milestone event for York Water as we add Letterkenny Township as the 50th municipality served in York, Adams and now Franklin counties. Conducting settlement during the COVID-19 public health crisis would not have been possible without the collaborative efforts between York Water and Letterkenny Township officials. By pursuing this sale through a traditional book value negotiation and not an Act 12 Fair Market Value approach, Letterkenny Township Municipal Authority could fiscally and responsibly close their publicly- operated treatment works responsibilities without shifting the burden of increased wastewater rates to their residents and York Water's future customers. We are excited to extend York Water's superior customer service experience to our first customers in Franklin County."

Letterkenny Township Municipal Authority Chairman Charles

Myers acknowledged the collaborative relationship between the Authority and York Water. "From the outset of our discussions, we knew that York Water was the right partner for Letterkenny Township Municipal Authority. We are community focused, and York Water's history of community engagement and customer focus were exactly what we wanted as we pursued this agreement."

York Water now provides water and wastewater services in 50 municipalities in York, Adams, and Franklin counties.
