In order to help customers raise their vigilance when doing online transactions, especially transactions on money transfer 24/7 or Credit Card, TPBank would like to update new forms of fraud that have taken place recently and recommend safe transactions as follows:

NEW SCAM TRICKS

1. Impersonating bank employee to invite cash withdrawal/credit card maturity:

  • Scammers call Credit Card's owner from unknown phone numbers to invite Customer to use the credit card's withdrawal/maturity offer. They often claim to be employees of the Bank.
  • To make a withdrawal from a credit card, scammers require the Customer to provide personal information such as card number, confidential CVV number. By that, the bad guys get the customer's confidential information and carry out illegal profiteering;
  • In order to perform credit card maturity service (which is a form of cash withdrawal), the scammer requires the Customer to perform transactions through illegal POS machines. From there, the bad guys can get the customer's confidential information and perform illegal profiteering.

2. "Mistaken money transfer" scam:

  • Scammers prentend to make a "mistaken money transfer" to Customer, then they contact to request money transfer back via a strange link
  • When the customer accesses the link and enters information (internet banking password, OTP...), the scammer can steal the customer's security information and perform illegal profiteering.

3. Impersonating Banks' SMS Brandname to trick customers into clicking on strange links:

  • Scammers impersonate the Bank's SMS Brandname to send messages to customers, requesting customers to access links to perform transactions. (Change password, transfer money)
  • Customers access the link and enter information (internet banking password, OTP...). By then, scammers can steal customer's confidential information and perform illegal acts.

CUSTOMER RECOMMENDATIONS:

For safe banking transactions, customers should follow:

  • DO NOT provide any confidential information such as login name, OTP code, card number, CVV code, account password, eToken unlock code via links, messages, chats, calls that have not been received authentically under any circumstances
  • DO NOT contact or provide personal information, ID number, CCCD, household registration to strangers or third parties, especially online or by phone, including people claiming to be police, investigative agencies, bank employees,… to avoid scammer stealing personal information and using it illegally
  • TIMELY NOTIFY the network operator, banking organization and the Public Security Agency to find a timely solution in case of loss of the right to use SIM, suspicion of leaking personal information at the bank
