Time Out Market, the world's first food and cultural market rooted in editorial curation, announces Sandy Hayek has been appointed to the role of co-CEO, Time Out Market.

Reporting into Time Out Group CEO Chris Ohlund, and working alongside Time Out Market Co-CEO Didier Souillat, in this newly created role Sandy will be instrumental in day-to-day operations at Time Out Market, with a focus on optimising operations, growing auxiliary revenue and overseeing vendor relations. Didier will fully focus his efforts on accelerating the expansion of the Time Out Market business to South America, Africa, Europe and Asia and will be fully responsible for new locations, investment, initial curation and site development.

Sandy joined Time Out Market Dubai as General Manager in early 2021, playing a critical role in its successful launch and continued business growth. She brings a wealth of experience and industry expertise to the position, with a career spanning over 18 years in hospitality across Scandinavia and the UAE. Prior to joining Time Out Market, Sandy served as the F&B Operations Manager for Nakheel Group, launching Depachika Food Hall on Palm Jumeirah and the Food District at The Pointe. Prior to that, she held senior management positions within award-winning dining and retail concepts including La Serre Bistro & Boulangerie in Downtown Dubai and Galeries Lafayette, among others. Sandy holds an associate degree in agriculture and a bachelor's degree in international hospitality management, and is also a certified wine sommelier.

Time Out Market brings a city's best chefs, restaurateurs and unique cultural experiences together under one roof. The first Time Out Market opened in 2014 in a historic market hall in Lisbon, quickly turning into the most popular destination in the city with 4 million visitors a year. The success of Lisbon brought further expansion in North America, with Time Out Market opening in five major cities in 2019: Miami, New York, Boston, Chicago and Montreal. In 2021, Time Out Market expanded into the Middle East with Time Out Market Dubai, and more Time Out Market locations are in the pipeline including Porto, Abu Dhabi, Prague, London and more.

Chris Ohlund, Time Out Group CEO, said:"Sandy's expertise in food and beverage operations, coupled with her experience on the front line running a Time Out Market, made her the right choice for this new role overseeing operations of our seven Time Out Markets around the world. As the tourism and hospitality industries begin to benefit from an increased momentum of returning to "normal", Time Out Group is focused on accelerating the global expansion of the Time Out Market business, and Didier is the person to be leading this effort."

Sandy Hayek, Co-CEO Time Out Market, said:"I'm thrilled to be stepping into this role at such a positive moment in the Time Out Market journey. Now all Time Out Markets around the world are open following periods of closure and restrictions over the past two years, it's the right time to further strengthen our commitment to best in class food, drink and culture in the world's greatest cities. I'm looking forward to working closely with the exceptional teams in Lisbon, Dubai and across North America alongside Didier."
