Tobii, the world leader in eye tracking and pioneer of attention computing, announced today its membership in the Metaverse Standards Forum. The new organization "aims to encourage and enable the timely development of open interoperability standards essential to an open and inclusive metaverse." Tobii joins member companies like Google, Meta, Sony, Ikea, and Unity, and it will assist with oversight of the organization.

"We are eager to be part of the Metaverse Standards Forum and cooperate with other leading companies, including important clients and partners, to promote the adoption of standards for this new tech era," said Anand Srivatsa, Tobii CEO. "For Tobii, the metaverse will be an important factor accelerating the adoption of eye tracking and attention computing for AR, VR, and immersive PC gaming. However, as one of the companies building metaverse-related products, we also have a responsibility to ensure it's used for good; and that each user's data and privacy are respected. The Forum will allow us to do just that."
