Notice of Joint Disaster Prevention Drill with the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force

TOHO HOLDINGS CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Tokyo; Representative Director, CEO and CFO: Hiromi Edahiro) is pleased to announce that TOHO PHARMACEUTICAL CO., LTD. (Headquarters: Tokyo; President and Representative Director: Akira Umada; hereinafter "TOHO PHARMACEUTICAL"), its wholly owned subsidiary engaged in pharmaceutical wholesaling, conducted a joint disaster prevention drill on Friday, October 4, with Sanitation Department of Supply Control Headquarters of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force (hereinafter "JGSDF") and the Yoga Branch of the Kanto Logistics Depot of the JGSDF.

1. Background of the Joint Disaster Prevention Drill with the JGSDF

The Company's social mission is to provide a stable supply of pharmaceuticals and other products even in times of emergency and establishing its business continuity plan is positioned as one of its most important issues. Over the years, we have been promoting our own BCP measures, such as duplicating mission-critical systems, building supply systems that can complement each other even in an emergency, and building distribution centers that can operate even with a small number of people through the introduction of cutting-edge technology. In the event of a large-scale disaster in Japan, such as an earthquake or heavy rain, we have realized prompt disaster response without disrupting the supply of pharmaceuticals and other products. At the Keihin Truck Terminal, which has been designated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government as a base for transporting goods in the event of a disaster, we have established the only pharmaceutical distribution center in Tokyo, TBC DynaBASE (Ota-ku, Tokyo), thereby developing a system to provide goods quickly and stably in times of large-scale disasters across the country, including an earthquake beneath the Tokyo Metropolitan area, through cooperation with public authorities and related organizations.

As we did last year when we conducted a joint disaster prevention drill with the JGSDF simulating the occurrence of a Nankai Trough Megathrust Earthquake, we have been working to strengthen disaster response through cooperation between the two parties, and we have now conducted a drill to further improve disaster response.

2. Overview of Joint Disaster Prevention Drill

Supply of rapid response supply sets to the JGSDF Kanto Logistics Depot Yoga Branch

In response to a request for the supply of rapid response supply sets used by Self-Defense Force personnel in their disaster response, at TBC DynaBASE, we conducted a drill in which we divided up about 150 items, including pharmaceuticals, hygiene materials, and medical materials, into specified quantities and stored them in foldable containers, sorting them by use, and transporting them to Yoga Branch. Our automated logistics center can significantly reduce the time required for the setup of such items compared to manual labor. Through these efforts, we will continue to examine the ideal form of public-private partnerships and aim to strengthen pharmaceutical logistics to ensure accurate and stable supply even in times of disaster.
