2021 Toray Group Senior Management Seminar (TGSMS) Held Online

International Human Resources Dept. of Toray held the 2021 TGSMS over seven days―October 14, 18, 20, 21, 22, and 26 and November 18―and 12 participants at senior management level from 11 companies representing seven countries of Italy, Hungary, Tunisia, Indonesia, Malaysia, China, and Republic of Korea participated in it.
TGSMS is a training program targeting senior management (primarily general managers) at Toray Group companies outside Japan aimed at improving their understanding of Toray's management policy and strategies as well as Toray-style management and nurturing them into human resources who can take leadership roles at local companies. A total of more than 300 people have participated in the program since its start in 1996.
The training this time was held online due to the restrictions on traveling. Nevertheless, we had a fruitful training, as we coordinated the curriculum and the number of days and carried out prior learning and preparation utilizing videos. The participants also actively spoke and exchanged opinions.
The trainees participated in sessions taught by internal lecturers on themes such as "Toray Philosophy, TORAY VISION 2030 and Project AP-G 2022," "The Tradition, Culture and DNA of Toray," and "Toray Group Ethic and Compliance," and deepened their understanding of Toray. In the sessions by outside lecturers, "Discovery of Your Leadership Quality" and "Change Leadership Workshop―Instill Corporate Values," the participants prepared individual action plans and had review discussions on the last day of training.
