Toshiba Electronic Devices & Storage Corporation has responded to the major earthquakes that occurred off the coast of Tohoku Area on March 16 by establishing an emergency task force at its headquarters in Kawasaki, Japan. Our first concern is the safety of our employees and their families, and beyond this the wellbeing of the local community in the affected area. We are also assessing the damage to our production facilities, and will provide updates as soon as they become available.

Status of Toshiba's Group Company facilities in Tohoku area

1.	Japan Semiconductor Inc. Headquarters and Iwate Operations (Kitakami City, Iwate Pref., Japan, Semiconductor production)

The safety of all of employees has been confirmed, and there is no significant damage to buildings and infrastructure.

We resumed partial production on the night of March 17, as reported in Update 1, and are expanding production.

We expect to return to full-scale production on March 22.
