KAWASAKI, JAPAN - Toshiba Energy Systems & Solutions Corporation (hereinafter 'Toshiba ESS') announced it will exhibit an array of new sustainability products & solutions in the field of transmission and distribution systems at the CIGRE 2022 Technical Exhibition, held at Palais des Congres in Paris, France from August 29 to September 2, 2022.

The Toshiba ESS booth (Booth number:S170) will feature videos and information panels which explain its environmentally-friendly products and services within transmission and distribution systems. Most notable of these is the recently announced AEROXIA, *1 system - Toshiba ESS's natural-origin gas insulated switchgear*2. Rather than using SF6 (sulfur hexafluoride), which has high global warming potential (GWP), it is both safer and has a reduced risk for the environment on global warming in the event of leakage. The exhibit will also include actual surge arresters and protection relays, as well as a mock-up of the AEROXIATM.

Alongside AEROXIATM, Toshiba ESS's booth will exhibit the following technologies:

1. Power electronics technology

In anticipation of the proliferation of offshore wind power generation and similar technologies, Toshiba ESS will exhibit its VSC-HVDC*3 systems and STATCOM*4 systems for ensuring a stable supply of renewable energy from remote locations, along with examples of installations in Japan and future goals for the technology.

2. High-voltage substation equipment

An introduction to Toshiba ESS's various products and solutions for high-voltage substation equipment, including environmentally-friendly substation equipment which offers excellent safety and serviceability, and surge arresters which use polymers to achieve a reduced size and weight.

3. Protection relays

The latest models of Toshiba ESS's digital protection relays.

4. Exhibition of Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Prv.Ltd products

A showcase of products (distribution transformers, inverter duty transformers, and gas-insulated switchgears) produced by Toshiba Transmission & Distribution Systems (India) Prv.Ltd, its overseas subsidiary and manufacturing base in India.

5. Microgrid systems

An overview of solutions for microgrids, which are economical, environmentally friendly, and help speed up the adoption of renewable energy.

Toshiba ESS Group continues to pursue global expansion in the electric power transmission and distribution system business and is also aiming for growth in the energy aggregation business. We look forward to receiving visitors at the exhibition booth, S170.

CIGRE (Conseil International des Grands Reseaux Electriques / International Council for Large Electric Systems) is a private, non-profit organization founded in 1921 as a forum for discussing the highly varied technical issues involved in electric power transmission and distribution. The biennial session and technical exhibition have been held in Paris since 1994, returning this year for the first time since 2018 after the 2020 exhibition was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The session and exhibition bring together approximately 9,600 industry professionals (actual 2018 attendee numbers, according to the organizer) from all over the world.
