TOKYO- Toshiba Corporation today announced that Toshiba Hydro Power (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd.(THPC), a Chinese subsidiary that manufactures, sells and maintains hydroelectric equipment, has manufactured and supplied one hydro turbine, and designed and manufactured four generators to Angu Hydro Power Plant. The hydro power plant is owned by China Sinohydro Corporation Shengda Sinohydro Co., Ltd. and started commercial operation on 31st August.

The turbine manufactured for this plant has the largest capacity among Toshiba Group Kaplan turbine experience. In addition, all the generators manufactured by THPC were highly evaluated by our customers, due to their distinguishing feature of supreme reliability and greater performance.

The demand for Kaplan Turbine, suitable for the river with low head and large flow, is on the rise in the markets such as China, South America, and Southeast Asia. By taking this experience, Toshiba aims to further expand its business of this equipment.

In 1894, Toshiba Group supplied the first Japanese-made 60kW hydroelectric generator to the Keage Power Station, Japan's first commercial hydroelectric power plant. Since then, Toshiba has supplied over 2,000 hydro power generators with over 56,000MW generating capacity around the world. Toshiba Group supports efforts to secure a stable global power supply with renewable energy solutions, including hydroelectric, geothermal, wind and solar power systems.
