Notice on New Management Structure and Introduction of Corporate Officer System.
Toshiba Corporation (TOKYO: 6502) today announced that it will revise its Management structure, effective from April 1, 2020.
Toshiba Group has completed recovery of its financial base under the 'Toshiba Next Plan' and is shifting its focus to a new growth phase and its transformation to become one of the world's leading cyber-physical systems (CPS) technology companies.
Toshiba Group will execute the Toshiba Next Plan with a new Management structure that further clarifies responsibilities for business execution and the supervisory function, in order to ensure speedy decision-making and support future growth.
Currently the Chairman and CEO and the President and COO shares responsibilities about business execution. Mr. Nobuaki Kurumatani, currently Chairman and CEO, will become President and CEO and take on authority and responsibility for business execution and ensuring speedy decision-making. Mr. Satoshi Tsunakawa, currently President and COO, will become Chairman, and in that capacity responsible for promoting Toshiba Group's external activities and presence. He will also monitor and supervise business execution as a Director.
In addition, the Company will introduce a Corporate Officer system ('Shikkouyakuin-seido') that will provide key personnel who lead the development of Toshiba Group with responsibilities, authority and compensation commensurate with their achievements, and enhance their presence in external sales activities. Please note 'Corporate Officer' ('Shikkouyakuin') is different from 'Executive Officer' ('Shikkouyaku'). 'Executive Officer' is a legally defined post set out in the Companies Act of Japan and 'Corporate Officer' shares management responsibilities under supervision of 'Executive Officer.'
