The first large-scale turbine rotor manufactured in India dispatched from Toshiba JSW's factory

TOKYO- Toshiba Corporation today announced that Toshiba JSW Power Systems Private Ltd. (Toshiba JSW), its subsidiary in India, has dispatched Low Pressure (LP) turbine rotor for NTPC Limited, India's largest state-owned energy service provider, Unit 2 of Kudgi 3X800MW super-critical thermal power station, Karnataka state on August 4th. This is the first large-scale LP turbine rotor, which has been manufactured, assembled and tested in India.

Toshiba JSW was established to provide comprehensive solutions, encompassing engineering, manufacturing, procurement, construction and services. Its Chennai Factory went into full-scale operation in 2012, and it has manufactured steam turbine components for NTPC Kudgi 3X800MW, Unit 1 and Unit2 and Meja URJA NIGAM Pvt. Ltd. 2X660MW, Unit 1. This is the first time for Toshiba JSW to dispatch LP rotor manufactured by Chennai Factory.

Indiafs power generation equipment market is expected to see demand growth. Also, rapid growth in power demand is expected in neighboring countries such as Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Africa. Toshiba JSW will continuously manufacture steam turbines and generators for the supply to Indian and export markets. Going forward, Toshiba Group will look to reinforce its market presence by making the best use of the manufacturing and EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) capabilities of Toshiba JSW.
