Tokyo, Japan- Tosoh Corporation (Tosoh) has purchased further shares of and made Philippines-based chlor-alkali manufacturer Mabuhay Vinyl Corporation (Mabuhay) a subsidiary. This is in line with Tosoh's efforts to strengthen its core vinyl isocyanate chain.
Mabuhay has built a strong position as the only electrolytic chlor-alkali producer in the Philippines market, where chlor-alkali sales are expected to see stable growth. In making Mabuhay a subsidiary, Tosoh signals the importance of this overseas operation to its vinyl isocyanate chain. Tosoh's aim is for Mabuhay to more aggressively develop its business, and toward this purpose Tosoh will more fully integrate the new subsidiary's management system with its own.
