Nov 22 (Reuters) - Australia and New Zealand Banking Group will cease its Myanmar operations by early 2023 due to the rising complexities it has been facing there over the past several months, Australia's fourth-largest lender said on Tuesday.

In a brief statement, the bank said it had been working with its institutional customers to transition to alternative banking arrangements and would cease operations pending local regulatory approval.

"The decision follows careful consideration of the local operating conditions," said Simon Ireland, ANZ managing director, international.

ANZ did not immediately respond to a request for a comment to elaborate on the nature of the complexities it faced.
