Toyo Engineering Corporation (President and CEO: Eiji Hosoi, hereinafter referred to as TOYO) has completed the enhancement of EPC Hub (Project Data Integration Hub), a platform for integrating, managing and utilizing data related to EPC-1 in plant construction work, in collaboration with IBM Japan, Ltd. (President and CEO: Akio Yamaguchi, hereinafter referred to as IBM Japan).

This development incorporates industry-standard data models with the aim of further improving efficiency and robustness in the EPC project field, and by building the platform on Microsoft Azure-2, a 'low-cost, robust and highly scalable platform' has been realized.

This development was carried out by combining TOYO's knowledge of the plant engineering industry with IBM Japan's industry knowledge and expertise in consulting, architecture design and construction that can meet international standards. As a result, under a project structure that integrated business and IT, we were able to build an advanced data analysis platform that supports project execution in the digital age.

The newly developed data integration, management, and utilization platform, 'EPC Hub,' has the following three features:

Real-time collaboration enables more accurate decision-making

Previously, dashboards used as decision-making support tools required manually defining relationships between data, making efficiency a major challenge. Now, with the addition of a real-time integration function that enables the data analysis platform to automatically process relationships between data, users can freely switch the axis of analysis, making it easy to grasp the context between steps in a project and the overall flow. It is also possible to perform detailed analysis while maintaining the filtering conditions. This allows data to be used from multiple perspectives, resulting in more effective decision-making.

Equipped with industry-standard CFIHOS-3/AWP4 data model

Previously, data for each project was managed manually, which led to issues such as data inconsistencies. Now that a new industry-standard data model has been built, a common data format has been introduced, making it easier to share information between different stakeholders and departments. This improvement also leads to stronger collaboration between departments. In addition, data management based on industry standards reduces the occurrence of errors and inconsistencies, minimizing project risks.

Strengthening data handling functions

By incorporating various functions into the data analysis platform, the accuracy and consistency of data has been greatly improved. In particular, the 'validation function5' that checks data has been strengthened, which automatically checks for errors when data is imported or updated, preventing the inflow of inaccurate data. This allows users to carry out their work based on highly reliable data. In addition, by ensuring data quality, unnecessary rework and time spent correcting errors are significantly reduced, reducing the man-hours required for projects.

The recent enhancements to EPC Hub's functionality enable predictive analysis and risk management using accumulated data, enabling efficient, high-quality project execution. EPC Hub is also designed with scalability in mind, so it can easily incorporate new technologies and tools in the future, enhancing its functionality. EPC Hub also supports global project management, enabling the efficient operation of international projects.

TOYO and IBM Japan will respond flexibly to technological innovation and incorporate cutting-edge project management methods to meet customer needs. In addition to utilizing the foundation that will lead to increased competitiveness in terms of overall quality, cost, and construction schedule, we aim to expand business through the use of a global standard methodology for plant projects.
