Toyota Motor Corp. and Suzuki Motor Corp. will begin production of a new sport utility vehicle to be sold in India and world-wide.

The Japanese auto makers are promoting the mutual supply of vehicles globally, one of the aspects of collaboration under a business alliance struck in 2017. The companies will start production of the new SUV model developed by Suzuki at Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. from August, according to a joint release on Friday.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. and Toyota Kirloskar Motor will market the new model in India as Suzuki and Toyota models, respectively, the two Japanese auto makers said. Also, both companies are planning to export the new model to markets outside India, including Africa, they added.
