CALGARY — TransAlta Corp. says it has entered into two long-term power purchase agreements for its White Rock wind project in Caddo County, Okla.

The Calgary-based company says the contracts with an undisclosed customer provide for the offtake of 100 per cent of the electricity generation from the 300 MW project.

TransAlta says the signing of the agreements means the company will be able to begin construction in late 2022.

White Rock is TransAlta's largest wind power project to date. The company says it will consist of 51 turbines that should be operational in the second half of 2023.

TransAlta will construct, operate and own the facility. Total construction capital costs are estimated at approximately US$460 million to US$470 million.

TransAlta says the White Rock project is expected to generate total annual earnings of approximately US$44 million including production tax credits.
