CALGARY, Alberta (AP) _ TransAlta Corp. (TAC) on Tuesday reported a loss of $1.6 million in its second quarter.

The Calgary, Alberta-based company said it had a loss of 3 cents per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, were 7 cents per share.

The power generation and marketing company posted revenue of $503.9 million in the period.

TransAlta shares have increased 40% since the beginning of the year. The stock has increased 70% in the last 12 months.
