ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) _ TransMedics Group Inc. (TMDX) on Wednesday reported a loss of $8.5 million in its second quarter.

The Andover, Massachusetts-based company said it had a loss of 36 cents per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 42 cents per share.

The medical technology company posted revenue of $3.4 million in the period.

TransMedics shares have fallen almost 5% since the beginning of the year. The stock has decreased 17% in the last 12 months.
