ANDOVER, Mass. (AP) _ TransMedics Group Inc. (TMDX) on Wednesday reported a loss of $5.1 million in its third quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Andover, Massachusetts-based company said it had a loss of 19 cents.

The results exceeded Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 33 cents per share.

The medical technology company posted revenue of $7.1 million in the period.

TransMedics shares have fallen 34% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $12.57, a decrease of 37% in the last 12 months.
