MUNICH (dpa-AFX) - Traton, the commercial vehicle holding company belonging to the VW Group, is holding almost steady in the global economic downturn: Last year, the four Traton brands Scania, MAN Truck & Bus, International and Volkswagen Truck & Bus sold a total of 334,200 trucks and other commercial vehicles, the company announced in Munich. Compared to 2023, this was a slight decline of one percent.

However, the brands belonging to Traton did not perform equally well: the Swedish brand Scania was able to increase its sales figures significantly by six percent to a good 102,000 vehicles, overtaking the Bavaria-based MAN Truck & Bus, whose sales slumped by 18 percent to 95,700 trucks and buses. The US brand International increased slightly, while the smallest brand, VW Truck & Bus, grew strongly by 23 percent, according to the statement, particularly in Brazil./cho/DP/jha
