WINCHESTER, Va. (AP) _ Trex Co. (TREX) on Monday reported second-quarter profit of $47.2 million.
On a per-share basis, the Winchester, Virginia-based company said it had net income of 81 cents.
The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 65 cents per share.
The maker of fencing and decking products posted revenue of $220.6 million in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Six analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $204 million.
For the current quarter ending in October, Trex said it expects revenue in the range of $215 million to $225 million.
Trex shares have increased 61% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $144.84, a rise of 86% in the last 12 months.
