WINCHESTER, Va. (AP) _ Trex Co. (TREX) on Monday reported third-quarter earnings of $42.7 million.

On a per-share basis, the Winchester, Virginia-based company said it had net income of 37 cents. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to 41 cents per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of eight analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 38 cents per share.

The maker of fencing and decking products posted revenue of $231.5 million in the period, also surpassing Street forecasts. Seven analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $222.1 million.

For the current quarter ending in December, Trex said it expects revenue in the range of $210 million to $220 million.

Trex shares have climbed 59% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $71.27, a rise of 62% in the last 12 months.
