THEATRE IS RIGHT WHERE IT IS.
The 26th Istanbul Theatre Festival takes place between 25 October and 26 November under equally generous sponsorship of Koç Holding Energy Group Companies Aygaz, Opet, and Tüpraş, along with the contributions of the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Marking a milestone in the festival's history, this year's programme is curated by the veteran Turkish director, Işıl Kasapoğlu.

THE 26th ISTANBUL THEATRE FESTIVAL
25 OCTOBER - 26 NOVEMBER 2022
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV), the 26th Istanbul Theatre Festival presents a total of 24 plays and dance performances from Turkey and abroad. The programme features 15 national premieres, 3 screenings, and 6 international productions from France, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy and Greece in 18 venues.

A WARNING SIGN- JUNGLE BOOK REIMAGINED
In a brand new production based on the original story of Rudyard Kipling's classic, the world-renowned dancer and choreographer Akram Khan and his company reinterprets the journey of Mowgli through her eyes as a climate refugee. Accompanied by breathtaking visuals and a wistful score, Jungle Book Reimagined is a call for all generations to create a better world together.

THE STAR-CROSSED LOVERS ARE ALIVE!- JULIET & ROMEO
United Kingdom's award-winning dance theatre company Lost Dog led by the director Ben Duke creates a fresh adaptation of the Bard's famous love story unlike any other. Forming a unique bond on stage, actors Kip Johnson and Solène Weinachter portray a humorous and heartfelt duet about love and loss.

A JOURNEY INTO THE COSMIC VOID- TITANS
Greek director and actor Euripides Laskaridis, who is considered among the major figures that will shape the future of the European theatre scene, visits the festival for the first time ever. As one of today's leading works of the Theatre of the Absurd, Titans offers an unforgettable experience by offering the audience an opportunity to leave everything behind and explore an entirely different universe.

CELEBRATING THE 400th ANNIVERSARY OF MOLIÈRE's BIRTH
A modern spin on one of the French playwright's most famous plays, The Bourgeois Gentleman Remix by the internationally-acclaimed directing duo M.Caner Alper and Mehmet Binay sets the festival off to a great start. The oldest operating theatre company Comédie-Française invites festivalgoers to a Molière Marathon with three screenings of the classic plays staged to celebrate the playwright's birthday. Director Ivo van Hove's uncensored Tartuffe or the Hypocrite, Claude Stratz's The Imaginary Invalid, and Valérie Lesort and Christian Hecq's The Bourgeois Gentleman are featured with the kind support from Institut Français de Turquie at the historical Atlas 1948 Movie Theater. Istanbul Metropolitan City Theatre and its seasoned cast also joins the festival with Tartuffe staging the famous translation of the legendary Turkish poet, Orhan Veli Kanık.

REMEMBERING 100 YEARS OF THE LATE GREAT PASOLINI
Kindly supported by Istituto Italiano di Cultura Istanbul, the festival celebrates Pier Paolo Pasolini's 100th birthday with Pasolini's Visions: Secret Fires, in which the choreographer Monica Casadei and her vibrant Artemis Danza Company brings the iconic Italian film director's unique artistic vision to life through dance.

VENUES LIKE NO OTHER
All artists of this year's festival are performing at some of the best modern and historical locations in Istanbul. These include venues with state-of-the-art technology, such as Zorlu Performing Arts Center, Maximum UNIQ Hall, İş Sanat Culture Center as well as landmark buildings like Ses 1885 Theatre and Cemal Reşit Rey Concert Hall. The festival closes with Istanbul Mon Amour, where the festivalgoers take a memorable day trip through the city by taking the famous ferry on the Bosphorus strait and attending events at historical locations such as Süreyya Opera House, Lycée de Galatasaray, İMÇ Mall as well as modern places like Kanyon and Salon IKSV.

TICKETS
Festival tickets are on sale ranging from 100 to 700 Turkish Liras. Students are eligible for a special price as low as 10 Turkish Liras. All festivalgoers can enter events by presenting their PDF ticket sent to their email address or stored under My Tickets section on the website of the festival's official ticket provider, PASSO.

All ticket-holders are advised to arrive at venue 30 minutes prior to event.

ABOUT İKSV (Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts)

Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) is a non-profit cultural institution founded in 1973 with the sole purpose in enriching Istanbul's cultural and artistic life. Every year, the Foundation organizes highly anticipated festivals of Music, Film, Theatre, Jazz, Biennial,the Design Biennial, and the week-long Filmekimi.
