Quebecor Content scores a double with the acquisition of Le Trip à trois and 1:54 from Les Films Séville

Following on the heels of numerous recent acquisitions, Quebecor Content announced today that it has acquired the rights to two new, highly anticipated feature films from renowned distributor Les Films Séville, both of which are slated for broadcast on club illico and TVA.

Le Trip à trois is an offbeat comedy that follows the story of Estelle, a young mother of 34 who's tired of the mundane life she's built with her husband, Simon. The spark between them has gone and Estelle thinks they can rekindle the passion by engaging in a ménage à trois. Fortunately for us, life is never that simple. Her husband is a less-than-ardent participant, and the entanglements prove more comic than erotic.

Written by Benoit Pelletier, directed by Nicolas Monette and produced by the team of Guillaume Lespérance and André Dupuy, Le Trip à trois stars Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin (Incendies, Gabrielle) in the role of Estelle and Martin Matte (Les Beaux Malaises) as Simon and will be coming to screens in 2017.

1:54 is a psychological thriller of the purest genre. Tim, a shy sixteen-year-old athlete, is both brilliant and talented. But the pressure he undergoes pushes him to the edge, where human limits reach the point of no return.

The reviews and reception have been extremely positive. 1:54 premiered at the Festival du film francophone d'Angoulême - where it won awards for Best Actor and Jury Prize - and debuts here in Québec on October 13th.

1:54 is the first feature film for writer-director Yan England and was produced by the team of Denise Robert (Cinemaginaire) and Diane England. The cast features Antoine Olivier Pilon, Sophie Nélisse, Lou-Pascal Tremblay, David Boutin, Patrice Godin, Robert Naylor, Anthony Therrien, Guillaume Gauthier and Irdens Exantus.

'We're proud to acquire and broadcast Québec content and promote the wealth of talent we have right here at home,' commented Yann Paquet, Vice-President, Acquisitions & Partnerships, Quebecor Content. 'Le Trip à trois and 1:54 are two great examples and we look forward to presenting them on all of our platforms.'

'We are pleased to be partnering with Québecor on those two specific films which will benefit from a great exposure once they hit their platforms,' said Xavier Trudel, EVP, Television and Digital North America, Les Films Séville & Entertainment One Films.
