Quebecor Content delivers the world... of National Geographic!

MONTRÉAL, April 6, 2017 - In keeping with its aim of acquiring and broadcasting a wide variety of engaging and inspiring high-calibre content, Quebecor Content is partnering with National Geographic to offer Québec audiences a selection of their documentaries on Club illico. The films artfully blend entertainment with well-researched information about the splendours of our planet and the challenges it faces in our era. Globally, National Geographic is available in more than 440 million homes in 171 countries and 48 languages.

The film series comprises a dozen documentaries in all. It will kick off with 'Eat: The Story of Food,' an exploration of one of the most basic human needs and the fantastically rich and varied practices our species has developed to satisfy it. Other films in the series include 'Man V Lion' (June), 'Challenge the Desert' (August) and 'Exploring China: China's Grand Canal' (October), among other fascinating voyages through the amazing natural world and the extraordinary diversity of human cultures.

'Quebecor Content is very pleased to be teaming up with this internationally renowned brand that has been helping viewers discover every corner of our world for more than 15 years,' said Yann Paquet, Quebecor Content's VP, Acquisitions & International Development. 'We aim to source and deliver content that draws in and delights viewers, and we think National Geographic fits that bill to a tee, with its talent for transporting audiences, educating and entertaining them in equal measure.'

These National Geographic documentaries were licensed to Quebecor by Fox Networks Group Content Distribution (FNGCD), the global distributor for both FOX and National Geographic content. Prentiss Fraser, EVP & Managing Director at FNGCD, comments: 'Quebecor Content is an exciting and progressive multiplatform partner with which to do business and we are delighted to have licensed some of our premium National Geographic content for Club illico. We hope to grow our relationship even further over time and anticipate that our exceptional factual stories will be well received by audiences in Québec.'

New documentaries will be added monthly on Videotron's SVOD service Club illico, which provides unlimited access to an impressive catalogue of movies, television series, children's programs, documentaries and concerts from the largest Québec and foreign studios. Club illico is the first supplier of on-demand content in Canada to make National Geographic documentaries available to subscribers.

'The National Geographic documentaries are an exciting addition to Club illico's extensive portfolio of premium non-fiction programming,' said Caroline Paquet, Videotron's Senior Director, Marketing - Content and Broadcasting.
