CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) _ U.S. Xpress Enterprises, Inc. (USX) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter net income of $7.6 million, after reporting a loss in the same period a year earlier.

The Chattanooga, Tennessee-based company said it had net income of 15 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 17 cents per share.

The company posted revenue of $455.6 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported net income of $18.6 million, or 35 cents per share, swinging to a profit in the period. Revenue was reported as $1.74 billion.

U.S. Xpress shares have increased slightly more than 1% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $6.93, a climb of 17% in the last 12 months.
