U S Xpress Enterprises : .S. Xpress Appoints Bryan Johnson Chief of Staff

New role to spearhead strategic, multidisciplinary initiatives across growing organization

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - Aug. 24, 2021 - U.S. Xpress Enterprises, Inc. (NYSE: USX), has appointed Bryan Johnson, Ed.D., to the newly created role of Chief of Staff, effective August 18, 2021. Johnson will report directly to Eric Fuller, President & CEO, and join the strategy team in spearheading multidisciplinary initiatives across the company.

Johnson most recently held the role of Hamilton County Schools (Tenn.) Superintendent. During his four-year tenure, he was named the top superintendent for the State of Tennessee, and this year, one of four finalists for the top superintendent for the entire nation. Johnson led initiatives that improved student performance, made significant strides in technology access, and recruited and developed talent across the system. He was responsible for managing an annual budget of more than $500 million and over 6,000 total employees for a system of more than 44,000 students.

As Chief of Staff, Johnson will work closely with the strategy team, initially focusing on areas including leading cross-departmental projects, working with HR teams on educational training and development, and nurturing community partnerships to support area economic, talent, and workforce development.

Prior to joining Hamilton County Schools, Johnson served nine years in successively more responsible roles with the Clarksville-Montgomery County, Tennessee, school system and was the system's chief academic officer. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Austin Peay State University, a master's degree in special education and teaching from Belmont University, and a Doctor of Education in educational leadership and professional practice from Trevecca Nazarene University.
