Shares of industrial and transportation companies rallied amid hopes that the Trump administration and Democratic leadership would reach a stimulus deal.

Industrials could be among the sectors that thrive during the earnings season, as investors learn of benefits from the restarting of the economic cycle in the third quarter, according to one money manager.

"Production is set to jump, driving sales and margin leverage for those companies that can benefit most from restocking as demand recovers," said Keith Parker, equity strategist at brokerage UBS, in a note to clients.
