Edufinet, awarded the first CECA financial education prize in the category of adults for improving the knowledge of its educators

The goal is to improve the training of more than 40 of its educators, so that they can transfer more efficiently contents on economics and finance to different demographics

The Edufinet Project, promoted by Unicaja Banco and Fundación Unicaja, has been awarded the first position in the Financial Education Area, in the category of adults, at the 2019-2020 CECA Financial Education and Welfare Project Prizes. This award recognizes the contribution made by Edufinet to improve the knowledge of its educators in the areas of economics and finance.

The goal of the awarded initiative is to allow Edufinet educators to gain further knowledge and improve their teaching skills in the areas of economics and finance, following the recommendations of the good practice code of the Financial Education Plan, thus being able to transfer with more efficiency those contents to the different social groups they work with, especially Secondary and Baccalaureate students.

With this prize, collected by Arnie Zareei -member of Edufinet Project working team- at a virtual event held today, CECA wants to highlight the importance of financial education as a lever to improve the life of citizens, as it favours the system's stability, financial inclusion and social cohesion.

Under the awarded Project, more than 40 Edufinet educators got a financial cerficate from Instituto BME (Bolsas y Mercados Españoles) after receiving a course given by Edufinet and the Escuela Superior de Estudios de Empresa IMF (ESESA IMF). 98% of the pupils who took the certification exam passed the test after successfully completing a prior final assessment as part of the training activity.

The training activity, which was developed also with the collaboration of the Funcas Educa programme, was divided into two blocks: a practical block and a theoretical one, with a total duration of 200 hours. With the course, Edufinet educators gained further knowledge and learned how to improve the methodology they need to efficiently transfer financial education contents.

Edufinet Projet, pioneering financial education programme

With over 15 years of history, the Edufinet Project is one of the financial education programmes pioneering in the country, whose promotion and dissemination work has been recognized with several awards.

The Edufinet Project has been fully operational, through an internet portal for the general public, since 2007, although its development began in 2005. Currently, more than ten business organizations and institutions and 16 universities collaborate with the programme. All of the above makes Unicaja, one of the first institutions in Spain to launch an initiative of this kind, to be one of the most active agents in the areas of financial education and social inclusion, under the exercise of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and its commitment to society.

El Proyecto Edufinet está operativo, a través de un portal de Internet orientado al público en general, desde finales de 2007, aunque comenzó a desarrollarse en 2005. Cuenta con la colaboración de más de una decena de instituciones y organizaciones empresariales, así como de 16 universidades. Todo ello ha hecho que Unicaja, una de las entidades pioneras en España en poner en marcha una iniciativa de este tipo, sea uno de los agentes más activos en los ámbitos de la educación y la inclusión financieras, en ejercicio de su Responsabilidad Social Corporativa (RSC) y de su compromiso con la sociedad.
