Michael J. Dowlan has been named senior vice president and product development manager for the newly-created retail market segment management team at Union Bank of California, N.A. Based in Los Angeles, he will report to Joseph M. Petitti, executive vice president and head of retail segment management.

?Michael brings to Union Bank a valuable combination of both marketing and product development expertise,? said Petitti. ?His contributions will be very beneficial as we continue towards our vision of tailoring products and services for the specific needs of retail and small business customers.?

With an extensive financial services background, Dowlan most recently served as chief strategy development officer for Toyota Financial Savings Bank. Previous experiences include senior vice president of marketing, sales, and training for Wells Fargo's national branch channel, and senior vice president of marketing at Fleet Bank's national consumer lending division.

Dowlan also held marketing and product development positions at Bank of America and the former Security Pacific Bank. He is a graduate of the University of Virginia's Graduate School of Retail Bank Management and he received his bachelor's degree from UCLA.
