Steven M. Short has been named chief executive officer of UnionBanc Investment Services, Inc, a subsidiary of Union Bank of California, N.A. Short will have overall responsibility for both institutional and retail brokerage operations, as well as Union Bank's retirement solutions unit. He will report to Johannes (Johs) Worsoe, executive vice president and head of the bank's global markets.

Short most recently served as CEO of U.S. Bancorp Investment Services Inc., U.S. Bancorp Insurance Services, and executive vice president of US Bank, where he spent the past 13 years. He began his banking career in l982 in the trust division at Fifth Third Bank, where he worked for 11 years. Short received his B.S. degree in business administration from Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois.
