United Electronics Company announced earnings results for the second quarter and six months ended June 30, 2016. For the quarter, the company reported net profit of SAR 12.15 million compared to SAR 11.83 million a year ago. Operational profit was SAR 12.08 million compared to SAR 13.12 million a year ago. The total sales for the second quarter is SAR 880.1 million increased with 0.1% compared to SAR 879.5 million for the same period last year. Due to the decrease in most of categories sales which impacted positively by bonus of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The Increase in net profit is due to increase the volume of sales during the current quarter; lower selling, distribution and administrative expenses as well as SRM 9 provision for commercial claim in the previous quarter. For the six months, the company reported net loss of SAR 32.69 million or SAR 0.91 per share compared to net profit of SAR 27.91 million or SAR 0.78 per share a year ago. Operational loss was SAR 32.36 million compared to operational profit of SAR 30.56 million a year ago. The total sales for the period is SR 1,622.2 million, decrease with 7.4% compared to SAR 1,751.2 million for the same period last year. Due to the decrease in most of categories sales which impacted positively by bonus of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. The decline in net profit is due to the decline in sales of most categories compared to the same period of previous year, which impacted positively by bonus of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques; the company strategy to increase its market share by aggresive promotions which led to a decrease in gross profit; increased in selling and administrative expenses and the opening of three new stores and SRM 9 provision for commercial claims; increase in other income and impact of investments held for trading profits in the same period of the previous year.
