International stocks trading in New York closed lower on Wednesday.

The S&P/BNY Mellon index of American depositary receipts fell 0.9% to 134.27. The European index decreased 0.6% to 125.30, the Asian index fell 1.3% to 165.05, the Latin American index dropped 1% to 170.55 and the emerging markets index decreased 1.4% to 278.73.

BeiGene Ltd. and JinkoSolar Holding Co. Ltd. were among the companies with ADRs that traded actively.

ADRs of BeiGene fell 6.9% after the biotechnology company, focused on developing affordable medicines for patients worldwide, announced a research collaboration with InnoRNA to discover and develop mRNA-based therapies.

ADRs of JinkoSolar fell 3.7% after the China-based company said its board of directors approved a share repurchase program of up to US$200 million.

ADRs of United Microelectronics Corp. fell 3% after the Taiwanese semiconductor foundry reported unaudited June revenue of NT$24.8 billion, up 43% from a year ago, and revenue so far this year of NT$135.5 billion, up 38% from a year earlier.
