STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) _ United Rentals Inc. (URI) on Wednesday reported second-quarter earnings of $293 million.
On a per-share basis, the Stamford, Connecticut-based company said it had net income of $4.02. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring costs, came to $4.66 per share.
The results did not meet Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of seven analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $4.81 per share.
The equipment rental company posted revenue of $2.29 billion in the period, which topped Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.21 billion.
United Rentals expects full-year revenue in the range of $9.45 billion to $9.75 billion.
United Rentals shares have increased 41% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Wednesday, shares hit $325.89, more than doubling in the last 12 months.
