United Spirits is slashing as many as 300 jobs as part of a restructuring to turn around distiller hit by recent write-offs. The lay offs are likely to consume between 240 and 300 jobs. This has been triggered by redundancy, underperformance and jobs lost due to manufacturing rejig. The company wants to reduce the x93feet on the streetx93 citing that its key rival Pernod Ricard, which has fewer numbers, has shown better growth and profitability. The company plans to reduce the number of owned manufacturing and bottling plants, which currently stands at 27.
