Item 5.02. Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers

As United States Steel Corporation (the "Corporation") announced on March 15, 2021, Eugene B. Sperling, a member of the Board of Directors (the "Board") of the Corporation, notified the Corporation of his decision to step down from the Board effective immediately. Mr. Sperling has been appointed by President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., to serve as Senior Advisor to the President and White House American Rescue Plan Coordinator. Mr. Sperling's resignation does not arise from any disagreement on any matter relating to the Corporation's strategy, operations, policies or practices.
