The latest announcements are a part of UnitedHealth Group's multi-dimensional approach to minimizing our environmental impact.

In September, CEO Andrew Witty agreed to co-chair the National Academy of Medicine's Climate Collaborative, a public-private partnership seeking to meaningfully reduce the carbon footprint of the U.S. health care system, which represents 8.5% of U.S. emissions.

As a company, we are working to reduce our carbon emissions through business and operational innovations, like sustainable packaging to ship prescriptions, which will eliminate 5 million pounds of waste each year.

UnitedHealth Group has long recognized the environment is a key part of what makes the communities in which we live and work sustainable, viable and healthy, and we are committed to doing our part to minimize our impact.
