EWING, N.J. (AP) _ Universal Display Corp. (OLED) on Thursday reported fourth-quarter profit of $53.9 million.

The Ewing, New Jersey-based company said it had profit of $1.13 per share.

The results surpassed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 63 cents per share.

The organic light-emitting diode technology company posted revenue of $141.5 million in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Four analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $107 million.

For the year, the company reported profit of $133.4 million, or $2.80 per share. Revenue was reported as $428.9 million.

Universal Display expects full-year revenue in the range of $530 million to $560 million.

Universal Display shares have climbed 3% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $237.15, a rise of 33% in the last 12 months.
