Construction firm Robins & Morton joined Universal Health Services, Inc. on Oct. 3 to celebrate the ribbon cuttings of two nearly identical freestanding emergency departments - one in Florida and one in Texas.

Manatee Memorial Hospital's new 10,884-square-foot Manatee ER at Palma Sola, located in Bradenton, Florida, includes six exam rooms, three rapid medical spaces, a full-service laboratory, and X-ray and ultrasound areas.

South Texas Health System ER Pharr is a new 10,884-square-foot facility. It will provide around-the-clock critical care for adult and pediatric patients, as well as diagnostic and laboratory services with limited wait times.

Both facilities were built using an innovative preassembled modular system that required intensive coordination with sitework and utilities. The construction teams were able to fully dry-in the buildings only 12 days after the modules arrived onsite, and the overall schedule was six weeks faster than traditional construction.
