KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (AP) _ Universal Health Services Inc. (UHS) on Monday reported second-quarter earnings of $251.9 million.

The King Of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based company said it had profit of $2.95 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $2.93 per share.

The results topped Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of five analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 52 cents per share.

The hospital and health facility operator posted revenue of $2.73 billion in the period, also beating Street forecasts. Five analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.43 billion.

Universal Health Services shares have fallen 24% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $109.37, a fall of 20% in the last 12 months.
