KING OF PRUSSIA, Pa. (AP) _ Universal Health Services Inc. (UHS) on Monday reported second-quarter earnings of $325 million.

The King Of Prussia, Pennsylvania-based company said it had net income of $3.79 per share. Earnings, adjusted for non-recurring gains, came to $3.76 per share.

The results beat Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of four analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of $2.75 per share.

The hospital and health facility operator posted revenue of $3.2 billion in the period, which also topped Street forecasts. Three analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $3.02 billion.

Universal Health Services expects full-year earnings in the range of $11.46 to $12.16 per share, with revenue in the range of $12.35 billion to $12.5 billion.

Universal Health Services shares have increased 12% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Monday, shares hit $154.61, a climb of 43% in the last 12 months.
